Abstract

Educational interventions are initiatives of every country to meet the demand of quality education particularly in the Philippines. Within the educational framework of the SOCCSKSARGEN Region in Mindanao, Philippines, the Teaching and Learning Excellence in School Leadership (TEACHeXCELS) Program for Southeast Asia emerges as a critical catalyst for elevating school leadership and management practices. This study determined the extent of utilization of the Teaching and Learning Excellence in School Leadership (TEACHeXCELS) Program for Southeast Asia and the management practices of school heads in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region.Descriptive survey and correlational research designs were employed in the study. The one-hundred thirty-nine (139) TEACHeXCELS completers of Region XII and their teachers served as respondents. Total enumeration for School Heads and a simple random sampling technique for teachers were employed. It utilized the survey questionnaire in gathering data. Results showed that the TEACHeXCELS completers highly utilized the program's five competency domains. School head respondents always utilized the indicators in strategic thinking and innovation, instructional leadership, personal excellence, stakeholder engagement, and managerial leadership in achieving outstanding school performance in access, quality, and efficiency. Utilization of TEACHeXCELS components did not vary significantly. Likewise, School Heads on Quality, Access, and Efficiency management practices were similar. Management practices of school heads were strongly related to their utilization of and TEACHeXCELS Program in SOCCSKSARGEN. The TEACHeXCELS completers consistently promoted quality teaching and attained desired learning outcomes by practicing the skills and competencies they acquired from the course. The efficacy of the TEACHeXCELS program was deemed to have contributed to the school head's performance. Thus, enriching e-learning courses such as TEACHeXCELS helped develop the potential of school heads in managing the school.
