Transformative Effect of Rural Electrification to Member-Consumers of Sultan Kudarat Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Leadership comes in various ways, be it in a corporation or cooperatives, as long as it serves the welfare of the members. The study appraised the transformative effect of rural electrification services on Sultan Kudarat Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SUKELCO) member-consumers in the first district of the Province of Sultan Kudarat. To determine the extent of the rural electrification services of SUKELCO in terms of customer services, education, information and communication, and power reliability and the transformative effect in terms of social, economic, and political effects as perceived by the member-consumers. The study used descriptive and correlational designs with a survey as its major technique and a comparative type of design with 397 respondents among the major consumer groups. The study revealed that the implementation of the rural electrification services of the cooperative and the transformative effect of the rural electrification services on the member-consumers are found to be both rated to a great extent. The relationship between the implementation of rural electrification services is significantly correlated with the transformative effects on the member-consumers. The difference in the implementation of the electrification services among the member-consumers is not significant to each other. Parallel to this finding, the difference in the transformative effect among the member-consumers is not significant to each other. Thus, the perceptions of the member-consumer types are comparable.
